Fly Camping
AT SOSIAN

Leaving the lodge by your choice of car, foot, horse or camel and led by a team of Sosian staff, we venture onto the grassy plains at the top of the ranch, a vast open space with a view of Mt Kenya and hundreds of miles of unspoilt wilderness. Here we watch the sun go down, armed with a gin and tonic or something suitable before sitting down to dinner freshly cooked over an open fire. Hot bucket showers are provided and our toilet is what nature provides us with, a bush with a view! We camp on comfortable mattresses under the stars, we don’t try and recreate a hotel in the bush but enjoy the simplicity of Africa for what it is. Most nights we hear lions and hyenas calling and often interesting nocturnal creatures such as aardvark and porcupine scuttle through the camp. Waking up to see the sun rise and Mt Kenya crystal clear on the horizon is unforgettable. Fly-camping is a wonderful contrast to staying in the comfort of a lodge and provides the chance to experience the African bush at night.
