Sosian is inextricably linked with the infamous Tristan and Lucinda Voorspuy who pioneered riding safaris in Kenya 25 years ago and now run the most exciting horse back safaris in Africa. It was Tristan’s idea to turn Sosian from a derelict tract of land into a game ranch and his passion for conservation has seen the complete transformation of Sosian over the last 8 years, together with the rest of the owners who Tristan originally rallied together.

Sosian is home to 18 horses and going for a ride is one of the most wonderful ways of blending into the bush and seeing wildlife. You can get up close to the game, but also get away quickly if you need to! Not for complete beginners but not to be missed by anyone keen on riding. Charlotte Roger-Smith is a keen and experienced horsewoman and runs the Sosian Stables together with a team of staff. Most of the horses are thoroughbreds, ranging from 14 hands to 16 hands and we use a combination of English saddles and Australian Stock saddles which are similar to Western Saddles. For children who just want to try riding we have a small arena where Charlotte gives lessons and these can be followed by a 20 minute hack. More information on the horses, tack and riding at Sosian.
