Sosian strives to be as eco-friendly as possible, and to promote eco-friendly practices. All our rainwater is collected from the lodge roofs and held in storage tanks for drinking. Used shower and laundry water is disposed of in the garden. We do not cut any trees down for firewood, rather we use broken down branches caused by our high elephant population. This dead wood we use to heat the water for showers and for open fires in the sitting room, dining room and kitchen. We also have solar power for water heating.
We use a generator for electricity for as little time as possible, and power is then stored on an inverter. Almost all our produce is either grown or raised on Sosian or purchased locally from small communities.
